  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Brown the ground beef: In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.

  2. Sauté the vegetables: Add the onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper to the pot. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.

  3. Add the beans and tomatoes: Stir in the kidney beans, pinto beans, black beans, crushed tomatoes, and tomato sauce.

  4. Season the chili: Add the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

  5. Simmer and serve: Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for at least 30 minutes, or until the flavors have melded.

  6. Garnish and enjoy: Serve the chili hot with your favorite toppings, such as chopped cilantro, shredded cheese, sour cream, or avocado.

Tips:

  • Adjust the spice level: Start with 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, but feel free to add more or less to your taste.

  • Use different beans: Feel free to substitute other beans, such as black-eyed peas or cannellini beans.

  • Add toppings: Get creative with your toppings! Some other popular options include jalapeno peppers, cornbread croutons, and shredded lettuce.

  • Make it ahead: This chili can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze it for up to 3 months.
